1. Jay Despair and Hopelessness
I received a phone call from a father to reach out to his son. Jay had recently gone through a painful divorce. Jay was depressed deeply and began to lean on alcohol use daily to numb the pain. This left his faith in God on the back burner. His final straw was getting a DWI. I went the same day that I received this phone call to meet with Jay after I got off work at City of Faith. I met with Jay in a public library that evening for about 2 hours the first meeting. Then the next meeting we met for 3 and 1 ½ half hours at his home for a prayer intensive. I prayed for him and for his home taking him through the Prayer Intensive. Jay has been alcohol free and has not been depressed since our meeting and is now back on track walking in fellowship with the Lord. I continue to meet with Jay on a monthly basis for prayer, support and accountability.
2. Janie Contemplation of Suicide
Ms. Janie was suicidal. She was a client at a local Credit Union. One of the employees at the credit union contacted me out of concern for Ms. Janie. The Credit Union employee was concerned that Ms. Janie may be suicidal and harm herself. She asked me to check on Ms. Janie. When I called Ms. Janie to check on her she immediately began to weep. She said, “You don’t realize just how timely your call was. I was in a really dark place and was about to do something I would regret.” I contacted my friend Mike Clark and Bubba Redding to assist me on a house visit to pray with Ms. Janie. God powerfully touched Ms. Janie; she had been experiencing multiple health issues and back pain. She was not able to work any longer for her employer due to her poor health and emotional wounds from a failed marriage, deceased parents, financial shortage, and a strained relationship with her son. Mike paid Ms. Janie's conference fee to attend a Freedom and Fullness Seminar led by Dr. Henry Malone. Ms. Janie has made huge strides. I was able to help her find a new job as with an administrative position and she has been doing much better. I continue to check on her and walk with her through her life journey.
3. John Alcohol Addiction
My meeting with John had immediate results. While visiting with my friend John and his wife to share my vision about launching our new ministry, John’s wife noticed that I ministered to those who have addictions. I had no idea that John had recently attended a rehab to help him overcome the addiction of alcohol and he had found no real success was this recent rehab visit. After John and I spent one hour in prayer in his bedroom I left his home. While we had spent an hour praying together I had placed my hand on the back part of John’s head. As I was walking to my car John said, “Whit, I don’t know what you did but it still feels like your hand is sitting on my head” I called John back a week later to the day and I discovered this: John said that his desire to drink alcohol went fully away. He had numerous offers from fellow hunters to drink alcohol that weekend immediately following our time together. John had been working on his Duck Blind. He also made a comment to me and said he continued to feel that hand imprint on his head for 2 full days following our prayer time. I personally felt this was the presence of the Lord. I know with certainty this was a visitation from the Lord!!
